The Story

Chapter 1 - Operation Fubar (Prologue)

The scene starts with the Rascals gang a mercenary crew for hire who have taken on a mission to secure a mysterious piece of ancient alien tech from a secure facility.

They look to make their escape as their mission has gone FUBAR and the leader of the crew Dexter looks at his right hand man - Cain, as they drive away from the scene making their escape to their spaceship which they had parked nearby hiding in plain site using its cloaking technology. The members of the crew who made it out alive are just Dexter and Cain and as Dexter drives he looks over to Cain and asks: "What in the heck just happened? I thought they were supposed to be caught off-guard - there was way too much security there! ...it's almost as if they were expecting us or something? Someone must have tipped them off - we need to get back to HQ and regroup...we might have a mole in the group" As Dexter talks Cain slowly scans the sealed box that they had recovered from the facility and he gasps as his scanners reveal something to him that only he can understand and that he chooses not to disclose to his leader - Dexter. He is hardly listening as the gears start turning in his head - unbeknownst to Dexter. They drive off into the distance towards their ship as you see the cloaking tech previously rendering their spaceship invisibility cloak start to unveil, revealing the ship in its entirity parked and waiting for them. Dexter and Cain enter the ship and Dexter begins making preparations for their take off while Cain is storing the package and is responsible for informing the clients that the mission has been successfully completed and to thus wire over the funds. Before he does this he decides to disclose the secret he has come across in regards to the mysterious ancient technology they had been hired to steal - Cain explains to Dexter: "Boss, I have something to tell you, this tech we have been hired to recover, I think I know what this is - this is a singularity, it could potentially be used as an infinite power source if utilized in the correct manner - should we provide this kind of potent technology to those such as our clients....These...FINANCIERS! who knows what they would do with it! WE cant do this boss....there could be dire consequences" --

Dexter cuts him off - "It is not my job to decide what my clients do with the tech they hire me to secure for them and neither is it yours, the reason people hire The Rascals in the first place is specifically because we ask no questions - We always complete the contract Cain, and we never break our word. We may be mercenaries but once we no longer have at least our honor and our word - we are nothing more than savages... Now go make your preparations, I am going to begin my cryo-stasis immediately, I might have sustained more damage than anticipated on that damned mission - I'll leave take off to you as usual - Cain, your the only one I can trust" As Dexter pats Cain on the shoulder Cain closes his eyes and takes a deep breathe...resolved to do what he feels must be done...he exhales -- "Yes boss, leave EVERYTHING to me, i will do what must be done...as you said, I am the ONLY one you can trust" Dexter then goes off to make preparations to enter cryo-sleep.
